12 May 2014 – Javea Port to Denia Tower

This walk was a special request from David and Rosemary before they return to UK for the summer break.
We had a good turnout, and anticipate that it will be the last such before our own summer break.   Ann and Peter will also be returning to the UK later this week.
There were heavy clouds when we left Parcent this morning, but the sky had cleared by the time we reached Javea.   So it was quite hot for the quite steep climb at the start of the walk.
The end of the climb brings us to the light house overlooking Javea.  Although a popular walking area, it was deserted this morning.
The track requires careful attention, so this was a good opportunity to have a break and appreciate the lovely views over the coast and mountains behind.
Apart from a short section at the start, the climb is gradual.   Despite this we were all ready for a short water stop.   As we climbed we gave way to a hill runner on his way up, and again when he returned before we reached the top.
Our banana stop was at the shaded and rustic picnic site.   Ken could not resist the broken well.   It however resisted his efforts to get it working.   I seem to recall him attempting the same last time we did this walk!
The walk from the lighthouse to the tower is flat, but every exposed.    Today there was not much shelter from the sun, and we were pleased to reach our lunch location
At midday there is no shade from the sun, so everyone just found the most comfortable spot available for our picnic
The views to Denia and along the coast are pretty good from here, but it was too hot and uncomfortable to have more than a short lunch break.
Pat offered three options for the return journey, and everyone opted for the shortest one.   Despite this it was 4.30 when we arrived back in the port.   Quite a long walk for this time of year.
