30 April 2014 – Lliber

This week’s Wednesday Wanderer’s walk was a green (easy) walk from Lliber.  The email suggested parking by the bridge, or in the central car park, for a 10am start.    We opted for the central car park, and arrived at the same time as a UK registered car.   They told us that the walk did not start until 10.30am.   We walked around to the start place, and found the whole group there.   No idea which walk would have started at 10.30am, but it was not the U3A one!
Barry joined us for the walk, which was led by Sally, plus David and Rosemary.   We have not seen him since November, when he last walked with the Monday Group.   It was good to see him again and catch up on his news
There were about 20 on the walk, and it started on the same track that we used for our old Lliber circular walk.   But it soon diverted onto a track that led to the unfinished zoo.   We first visited it last year when Pat added it to our regular Lliber walk as an extension last December.   The original owner abandoned it before it was completed and we were told that locals had taken on responsibility for feeding the animals.
It was obvious that quite a bit of work has been done since our last visit.   Sally told us that there was a new owner, and that he planned to finish off the work and open it to the public.
The detour via the zoo made the walk much shorter than our expected 8km, and we returned to Lliber within a couple of hours
We stopped for a cold drink at the bar in the square, just opposite the church
The walk was shorter than expected, but the company was friendly and we enjoyed the morning.
