13 October 2014 – Olta Summit

Nine of us for today’s walk, including Sue who is back in Spain after a short break
The walk is a circuit of Olta, including a short but steep climb at the start.   Then a pleasant stroll to  the start of the ascent to the summit.

After a short break we started the climb.   Mostly good tracks, and a long steady climb for an hour or so.

Then a level walk over a very rocky section, with lovely views towards Benidorm

And finally the summit.   It was very windy, but that was not a problem as it was a hot day

The views from the summit are amongst the best we get on any of our walks, and well worth the climb.

There is plenty of space and shelter from the wind to have our well deserved picnic lunch.

I love this photo of Tom sitting in splendid isolation enjoying the view.   It was taken with my new wide angle option and if you click on it you will see it slightly larger.

We had a longer than usual break to enjoy the view and only left when more walkers arrived to enjoy the peace and enjoy the view.

The track downhill is more difficult in parts, but fortunately it was very dry today and not slippery as it had been on our last visit.

The ever changing views of the coast make this a really delightful walk.

Monday 20 October
Meet opposite the Farmacia in Parcent at 10am.   Walk to Murla and climb Orba castle
