30 July 2014 – Javea Evening Walk

Pat and Peter organised this evening walk and picnic as part of the Costa Blanca Mountain Walkers summer programme.
Dave and Sue gave us, plus Jackie and Mike, a lift to Javea.   With so many familiar faces it felt more like a Monday Group.
The walk started at 5.30pm, and at this time of year we expected it to be very hot.  So we were pleasantly surprised that the cool sea breeze made it quite pleasant
It was the same walk to Portitxol, which we did as our last Monday Group walk before the summer break.
We left our picnic boxes and chairs in the car, so were walking quite light .   I carried our small haversack, but others had their towels and swimming kit taken to the beach by one of the group who was not taking part in the walk.
After such a long break it was lovely to be walking again, and able to enjoy the wonderful views which makes this one of our favourite short walks
Jan and Sue seem to be enjoying the walk also.
One of the many mirador (or view point) on this part of the walk

It was also a good opportunity to try out my new camera, and to see how well the wide angle works.
We broke into two groups at this point.   Some of the keener swimmers wanted to head for the beach, the rest of us preferred to enjoy a short extension of the walk.
I never get tired of this view of Javea, and Montgo behind.   This was another test shot, into the sun this time.
A nice group shot of Jan, Pat, Jackie and Sue
The bay was very busy, with lots of small boats and plenty of activity to enjoy
Another wide angle shot, this time of Portitxol beach, where we rejoined the swimming party.
We know the beach quite well, but had never seen it as busy as it was tonight.  We usually have our picnic lunch here when we do this walk with the Monday Group.
But tonight our picnic was at the car park.   Everyone had brought food and drink and we joined the many Spanish groups who were doing the same.

Many thanks to Pat and Peter for organising such an enjoyable evening.
